Fun in the AZ

Wowee, long time no see!

There are so many posts to catch up on but first things first – Sedona!

We decided to go to Arizona to celebrate the marriage of Tayler’s older brother, Jake.
You guys. It was such a FUN trip. Not only did we get to see Jake get married on what is probably the prettiest red rock in all of AZ, but we also got to do so many cool things with Tayler’s cute fam bam (seriously they’re the best…probably at least 90 percent of the reason I decided to get married to Tayler. The other 10 percent probably was for his good looks and charm or something I guess 😉) .

This trip was especially noteworthy for me because we flew. I’ve only flown to one other destination in all of my 22 years of living. This was a BIG deal. I talked about it for weeks before we left. Tayler thought I was crazy for being so excited to fly economy on a small plane for two hours (and he probably wasn’t wrong). Despite his teasing, I still think it’s amazing that what once would have had to be a long, drawn-out road trip with stacks of coloring books and crayons is now a short, two-hour zip across the country in a huge tin can. It’s really quite extraordinary if you think about it.

After landing in Arizona, we were able to visit Tayler’s grandpa, Doug. Doug couldn’t make it to our wedding, so this was my first time meeting him. As per usual with the Goodman family, I was impressed with him. He was the state auditor of Arizona for years and years. My mom is an accountant, so I know what kind of sacrifices he must have made to get there. AMAZING.

That afternoon, we watched Jake and Leah get married.

They are a strikingly gorgeous couple, and we are so excited for their lives together! They both did a wonderful job on their vows, and the preacher (Tayler’s brother got a certificate online to become one….we think it might be valid…😉)  did a great job as well. This wedding was unique compared to others we have gone to. It was an intimate elopement in the red rocks of Sedona with mostly only immediate family. It was intensely personal and beautiful, and we were honored to be able to attend.

After the ceremony, we headed out to Leah’s aunt’s house for a little post-party dinner. Again, beautiful.

Need I say more?

The next day of the trip was PACKED full of family time. Tayler’s parents lovingly referred to it as “The Rock and Debbie Family Reunion.” We started the day with a little mini hike to a pond in AZ (a rare thing). Afterwards, we had the best time on some razors the family rented. We were able to see so many pretty things as we zoomed around on them, and it was so fun to watch all our nieces and nephews get excited about it.

Right after the razor rides, we got to go to a western play and dinner. The dinner was delicious and just the thing we all needed after all the razor-ing. They had barbequed chicken and ribs, corn, cole slaw, beans, rolls, and my favorite – apple crisp for dessert. We had to head out a little early so we didn’t get to watch the play, but from what I’ve heard, it was absolutely hilarious. Everyone had a good laugh.

We loved our time in Arizona, and we were so grateful that Tayler’s twin brother, Tyler and his family let us stay with them. They have the cutest little girl that we just love to pieces, and it was so fun to have the opportunity to chat with Tyler and Ciara (a rare thing since we live so far away from each other…we wish we lived closer!!)

I think that about raps it up. Hopefully I’ll be a little better about posting more of our adventures in the near future 😊

Much love,

Your Favorite Newlyweds
(Maybe your second favorite after Jake and Leah now 😉)
